Why is a test purchased on site non-refundable?
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds for COVID-19 tests purchased on site. When you book a test, our testing centres make every effort to welcome you in the best conditions. Managing your appointment involves staff, equipment and logistical costs. This planning does not take place the day before but several days in advance. Once your test has been booked, it is therefore impossible for us to issue a refund. Furthermore, our website mentions this three times during the test purchase process. Just like you, we are dependent on changes in federal and international health measures. We cannot take responsibility for the consequences of these changes. In applying this method, we want to ensure that the testing capacity is maximised and that no time slots are lost. Applying an effective testing strategy is part of the solution to ending the COVID-19 pandemic.
I don’t have a Belgian National Register Number, how can I book a COVID-19 test?
If you do not have a Belgian National Register Number, you may use your BIS number to make an appointment on our booking platform www.brussels.testcovid.be. The BIS number is a unique identification number for people who are not registered in the Belgian National Register, but who still have a link with the Belgian authorities. Your BIS number consists of 11 digits, the first six of which correspond to your date of birth.
If you do not have a NISS or BIS number, you can still make an appointment for a refunded or paid PCR test by checking the option ‘I do not have a Belgian National Register number or Bis number’ when making the appointment.
I don’t have a CTPC-code, how can I book a COVID-19 test?
If you have symptoms, fill out the self-evaluation form for a test here and request an activation code for a refunded PCR test.
If you are going on a trip or you need a Covid Safe Ticket, request an activation code for a paid test here.
It is possible to book a free PCR test, without a CTPC (COVID-19 Test Prescription Code), if you meet one of the following conditions:
- You have a medical prescription from your doctor, PSE doctor (school doctor), or company doctor;
- You have received a reference letter for a COVID-19 test from your school.
- You have acute onset symptoms with no other obvious cause:
- At least 1 of the following major symptoms: cough, shortness of breath/suffocation, chest pain, loss of smell or taste.
- At least 2 of the following minor symptoms: fever, muscle aches, fatigue, rhinitis, sore throat, headache, anorexia, watery diarrhoea, acute confusion, sudden falls.
If you do not have a CTPC code and do not meet one of the conditions listed above, you will only be able to purchase a PCR test.
From what age can a child be tested in the testing centres?
Our testing centres are able to welcome children of all ages. For 0- to 3-year-old children, you can go to all our testing centres except the Heysel centre, which is not equipped for paediatric care.

Are the centres accessible for persons with reduced mobility?
All our testing centres (Except the Brussels-Midi testing center) are accessible for persons with reduced mobility and wheelchair users. If you need someone to accompany you to the testing centre, this is allowed. This person will have to wait outside the testing room during the test.
I have not received a confirmation email after booking a test, what should I do?

How much does a COVID-19 test cost?
If you are registered with a Belgian “mutuelle/ziekenfonds” (health insurance provider) and meet the conditions for reimbursement of a COVID-19 test established by INAMI/RIZIV (the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance), your test will be free of charge, as the cost of the test will be covered by your “mutuelle/ziekenfonds”. You can find the conditions for reimbursement of a PCR test here.
If you are not registered with a Belgian ”mutuelle/ziekenfonds” but still meet the conditions for reimbursement of a COVID-19 test established by INAMI/RIZIV, the laboratory will charge you an amount of 46.81 EUR. You can then apply for reimbursement of your test from your own health insurance company.
If you need to be tested for reasons that do not entitle you to a refund, you can book a time slot for your test online and pay €41 on site. Purchased tests will not be refunded.

- You have questions about your test results
- You need general information about the Brussels testing centres
- You wish to cancel or reschedule your appointment
- You wish to submit a complaint
